Chapter 151 – Let’s Row in Row Six, Setia City Mall

Wake Me Up When September Ends

Hey ya, not for this year! I have fallen in love with September, knowing that there are so many great plans ahead and long holidays await us if you take 3 days off and have 10 days off in total. Thanks, Malaysia! With the long holidays coming up soon in like less than 2 days where I may be rowed to other states or probably another country, let’s first row to Row Six, Setia City Mall.

My Ohana

Though the mall was pretty packed and crowded, the eatery place that we opted for, Row Six, could comfortably accommodate 8 of us (+1 baby). My brothers were not aware of this place hence, I put on my tour guide cap and began explaining on the wide array of Asian cuisine that they offer. From the signature Pad Thai dish that traveled its way from Thailand to Malaysia Nasi Ketuk!

Bubur Cacar Gula Melaka – RM 5.55
Strong aroma and thick in texture! It just brought us to the memory lane where we had it once during our family reunion. 

Milo Volcano – RM 6.95
Someone must have been missing Milo so much that he ordered Milo Dinosaur – that’s my little brother. Nothing fancy to shout about aside that they are generous with the Milo powder. 
That again, it’s an expensive Milo drink.

Nasi Ketuk with Chicken Tandoori – RM 19.95
Don’t be fool by the small portion of rice. It looked small but it was crazily packed; just like lemang rice. Chicken Tandoori was the champion in this dish. The color itself was enough to make you salivate for it; the minute you put the chicken in your mouth, you will realize that your tastebuds are enjoying every single taste of it while the aromatic smell of Tandoori lingered in your mouth.

Mango Selasih with Cream – RM 11.95

Very pretty indeed! A nice drink to have especially after you have your mains. 

Come with sweet cubes of mangoes, this is a perfect choice for Mango lovers.

Penang Assam Laksa – RM 16.95

When it was presented on to our table, I sighed, seeing the bland appearance. However, when I took a sip of the broth, I regretted for not ordering it. A spicy, sweet and sour noodle soup has simply no comparison. If I were to order this bowl of Assam Laksa, I would have slurp up all the noodles.

Tomyam Seafood Fried Rice – RM 14.95

Since it was raining quite heavily, I opted for Tomyam Seafood Fried Rice. The taste was ok as I had eaten a tastier Tomyam Fried Rice before at elsewhere. 

Nasi Ketuk with Chicken Rendang – RM 21.95

Oh, this is one of the sinning plates! The rendang tasted so delicious that you can actually have it with a bowl of white rice. Also, look at the side dishes in Nasi Ketuk; it comes with keropok, fried egg, belacan kangkong which was very, very spicy and two sauces.  

Massaman Curry Seafood – RM24.95

I didn’t get to try this but my brother was claiming that the curry did not taste like curry. The taste was simply special that words couldn’t describe it at all. So, I guess that it must be nice?

Ice Kacang Cendol – RM 7.55

Cendol was just so-so only; In fact, I don’t reckon one to order cendol here.  Such a small bowl and taste was pretty mild.

In total, Row Six is a comfortable dining place where you can spend hours of talking and catching up with your loved ones with minimal disruptions. A place for you to hang out and you will be spoilt by the food choices.

Chapter 134 - Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock @ Oasis Damansara

Marking the beginning of New Year, I thought of having a "muhibbah" post to kickstart this great year hence, that is the reason why I have been quite silent for the past two weeks, trying to get inspiration on what to write. I tried to figure out what would be the best post to get the ball rolling especially this will be the first post in the year of 2018.

Lately, boyfie recommended me to this place called Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock at Oasis Damansara; a very nice food place that fits my first blog post for the new year. On a very rare afternoon, I took the chance to step out of the office and visit this place. I was really excited the minute I stepped into this shop surrounded by so many working professionals eating there and soft background music featuring three different languages of songs. The songs were supposed to be loud but I guess the voice of the crowd overcame it, somehow.

Last weekend, I brought my parents and my brother to this place again. I really like how friendly the staff is and the ambience of this shop, bringing me back to the days where I used to run a lot and play with pokok malu-malu (mimosa pudica) at my kampung while my grandfather boiled a pot of siham (cockles) for us.

Nasi Lemak Ayam (RM 11.70)

One of the most recommended food in Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock is non other than Nasi Lemak Ayam. It is so delicious that my dad couldn't agree further - the chicken is well marinated and juicy despite that it has been deep fried. Sambal is amazing, fitting the taste buds of people of all ages.

Ayam Goreng (RM 7.50)

One chicken is never enough so we order another one more to satisfy our palette.

Mee Goreng Muthu (RM 9.60)

After doing a thorough research, some did recommend to try Mee Goreng Muthu. As excited as I was, I quickly had a spoon of it the minute it was put on our table. It is very fragrant in aroma but somehow, the taste is just so-so. I wish that the chef could put slightly more spices and increase its spiciness.

Nasi Goreng Ali (RM 9.60)

This is very special! The taste itself has won the heart of many; it is not like the usual fried rice that we always have at elsewhere but something is really special with this dish; not sure if they do have their own special sauces to fire up this rice. Worth trying!

Nasi Goreng Kampung (RM 9.60)

Trying to stay as authentic and pure as possible, I opted for Nasi Goreng Kampung too. For once and for all, this plate of fried rice does make me crave for more - staying true to the name of this dish, it comes with kangkung, sliced chicken and plenty of anchovies. Even, this dish is filled with "wok hei" so I strongly recommend you to try it if you like kampung fried rice.

Cantonese Noodles (RM 9.60)

Enough of rice so we opted for a plate of Cantonese noodles. Just like the Chinese "Ying Yong" or "Wan Tan Hor", this dish never fails us. All of us like it except for my brother - he thinks that it is a bit too artificial as the dish is surprisingly sweet. My take on that is the vegetables are sweet, leading to the sweet gravy but my brother thinks otherwise.

Hainanese Chicken Rice (RM 9.60)

Among all the dishes, this was the least favorite one. The rice and chicken are very cold. Chicken does not taste well and the portion is quite small - not worth the money at all! The chicken rice at the hawker stall tastes way better than this. What is unique about this chicken rice is the soup where it carries the similar taste and smell as the prawn noodles soup.

I will come back again to try out other dishes like their Penang Assam Laksa and probably opt for their Nasi Lemak Ayam again :).

Chapter 109 - CK Cafe & Lounge, Klang

Calling all Klang-rians to CK Cafe & Lounge!

Whether it is for a family gathering, friends meetup or even birthday celebration, you may consider going to CK Cafe & Lounge, located in Klang.

Recently, my mum tagged us to this place, thanks to her friend's recommendation. Located at a quaint area, CK Cafe & Lounge is brilliantly decorated with cozy ambiance plus creative layout. There is a dedicated place where families or children can take awesome photos at a corner, accompanied with a number of props available. Soft toys and plush toys are also widely available there, from teddy bear all the way to Pokemon characters.

CK Cafe & Lounge is quite a decent place where it does not really host much tables. For those who prefer a smoking area, they can choose to dine in at Level 3 / rooftop with the scenery of Klang view. 

When comes to food, CK Cafe & Lounge offers a mix Asian and Western cuisine. We ordered a plate of fish and chips, chicken cordon bleu and mince meat rice along with passion mojito, strawberry mojito and chocolate drink. 

At the end of the day, what makes people return to CK Cafe & Lounge is just the ambiance of the restaurant. I find it cozy myself but when comes to food wise, I believe there are better food out there.

Since I was at CK Cafe & Lounge, I joined the bandwagon by taking a few photos with the soft toys, marking my footprint in CK Cafe & Lounge, Klang.

By the way, there is a car wash shop at the Ground Floor of CK Cafe & Lounge hence, you can have your car washed up while you dine in the cafe itself.
