Chapter 108 - A simple breakfast at Chong Kok Kopitiam, Klang

Chong Kok Kopitiam has been around in Klang for more than decades. Located at a prominent location where it is just 2 minutes away from/to Klang KTM station, Chong Kok Kopitiam welcomes people of all races and ages. It is an extremely popular breakfast spot in Klang.

In some days especially weekends and public holidays, you may notice a queue in front of this shop before the dawn breaks. People are thronging in to get their best seats while making order of what they want for breakfast.

I don’t usually go in the weekends because it is a great hassle to get a seat. Henceforth, I usually make my trip to Chong Kok Kopitiam before I start my work. Of course, it is not everyday but if I do need to go to Chong Kok Kopitiam, I would have to crawl out from my bed at 5.30am in order to make it to Chong Kok Kopitiam by 6.30am (thank God my house is pretty near with Chong Kok Kopitiam).

Recently, I had my breakfast at Chong Kok Kopitiam but together with my colleagues aka Klang-rians. Like how a typical breakfast should be, I got myself a cup of coffee, two half-boiled eggs and a plate of toast bread. Service was relatively fast so, I managed to gobble my meals within seconds. Not sure whether I was hungry at that time.
A typical breakfast that is closed to everyone's heart.
2 half-boiled eggs - RM 1.80
Check out how beautiful the half-boiled eggs are - delicious!
Toast bread - RM 2.10
Somehow, I felt that the meals served in Chong Kok Kopitiam really reminisce the olden days like how a coffee should taste like, how the half-boiled eggs should look like and how the toast bread should be served like. It gelled really well and I believe this is one of the good reasons on why there are so many people flocking in to this place despite knowing the busy-ness of this kopitiam.
RM 1.80 for a cup of coffee (small)
One thing that I would really like to applaud is their coffee. Incredibly rich in taste, smooth in texture and aromatic in smell. I can never go enough with this cup of coffee in fact.
The popular nasi lemak outside Chong Kok Kopitiam where people are willing to queue up just to have one.
Those who prefer a heavy breakfast can go with other options that are available in Chong Kok Kopitiam such as nasi lemak with various toppings like sotong and chicken, different kind(s) of noodles from siam mihun, mee goreng and up to char kuey teow. For those who wants to have a smaller pack of nasi lemak, there are two different vendors who supply it to Chong Kok Kopitiam and each of it has its own distinctive taste. Go and try it!

After finishing my breakfast, it was the time to journey the way to office. Certainly, I didn’t leave the place with empty-handed but I got myself a packet of nasi lemak with sotong, sold by this lady where her stall is located in front of Chong Kok Kopitiam. Believe it or not, people are willing to queue to buy the nasi lemak. Besides that, I got myself 2 pieces of my favorite kuih in Chong Kok Kopitiam.
RM 4.30 for a packet of nasi lemak with sotong
RM 0.80 for each piece

Lastly, try and have a simple yet authentic breakfast at Chong Kok Kopitiam whenever you are available. After all, the shop opens at 630am.
