Chapter 98 - Restaurant Goh Lau, Klang

Many including Klang-rians might not know on the existence of this restaurant called Goh Lau Restaurant, Port Klang, Klang. Located opposite Pandamaran B school, the restaurant is somewhat hard to be spotted due to the nameless signage. So, what I suggest here is to park your car first and then, take a stroll locating this place. It is actually two shops away from a Bat Kut Teh restaurant.

When you step into this restaurant, you will spot the word "Goh Lau Restaurant" at its so-called hawker cart. My mum's friends are the ones who reckon us this place, stating how good the food is and leading us to try it on our own.

I have tried a few signature dishes as suggested but unfortunately, it was not up to my expectation. The dishes are pretty mild in taste and these could be suitable for people who prefer slightly bland in taste.

Nevertheless, these are some dishes which deserve to be credited such as: Fried Yoo Tiao stuffed with Minced Meat

Crispy at the outer but soft in the inner - the mince meat is fragrant in smell and taste wise, it is awesome. I don't mind having a plate of it when I watch Korean drama or Korean variety show. It is a good appetizer by the way as it is also not that oily.
Fried Butter Mantis Prawn
Presentation wise looks appetizing but taste wise, it does not make any difference as per what other restaurants are serving today. It tastes the same so nothing much to shoutout.
Fried Longevity Noodles
Smells good when it is served on to our table. However, the plate of noodle is lacking of the taste *blame my heavily-flavored tastebuds* So, what I did was to eat it with loads of chilies plus garlic to boost up the taste.
Fried Chi Hun Keng
Well, not many people know about this dish because so far, it is only available in Klang. Ask any KL people, they might have not come across this. Generous pork lard is used to dish this noodle up but what was lacking is that the noodles are soaked too long before it is being fired up. The noodles are broken in pieces.
Mee Mamak
Next up is Mee Mamak. Nowadays, many Chinese restaurants have their Mee Mamak version. Similar like the ones that I have in Tian Lee Seafood, Port Klang, the chef has tweaked the dish by adding some Chinese elements to it. It is not that spicy hence, it can be eaten by people of all ages. Worth to try, I would say.
Fried Rice
Nothing special but just a plate of fried rice that uses the mixed vegetables like carrot, peas and corn to dish up. Taste wise...hmmm...I just have two spoons of it.

Fried Rice Cake
Very rare we get this from Chinese restaurant because it is not easy to manage this dish. Sometimes, it is good to have different type of carbohydrates rather than always having noodles and rice. However, this dish would be better if they make the rice cake itself rather than buying them outside.

All in all, the bill comes up to RM 107.00 - pretty pricey actually especially when the ordered dishes are all noodles and rice instead of seafood.

Ambient : 5/10
Price : Slight expensive
Food : Non-halal
Service : 3/5
Verdict : Suggest to go once to at least try the Fried Yoo Tiao stuffed with Minced Meat and Mee Mamak. And then, you leave your stomach to try other dishes surrounding that area.
