Chapter 102 - Weekend retreat to Port Dickson (Grand Lexis Hotel + Weng Yin Seafood Village)

I have been eating so much lately with two weekends spent at Port Dickson and Malacca respectively. Before I blog about my food-hunting Malacca trip, let me just wrap my Port Dickson retreat first. It was good to be whisked away to sandy beach and clear blue skies once a while or should I say after months of Koh Lipe trip. It was just at the right time actually.
Happy gal, enjoying the sea breeze and hot sun while watching the guys playing the kite.

Work has been getting busier from time to time, squeezing my brain juice even further. Therefore, it was such a relief to go for these short 2 days and 1 night retreat.

Early in the morning on one Saturday, three of us (plus myself) headed to KLIA2 to pick up our friends who came down from Singapore to join us. After picking them up, we healed our tummy with the char siew rice at Downtown KLIA - apparently, it is one of the delicious char siew aside from the ones in Cheras and I totally agree with it!

After having our lunch, this was where our journey began! We had bat kut teh once we reached Port Dickson and then, had Cendol which I personally think that it is the best one until today. Checked in. Strolled along the beaches. Played with the kite. Built sandcastles. And dinner time.

This time, we headed to Weng Yin Seafood Village. Quickly browsed for some reviews regarding this place and we went ahead to order some of their signature dishes.
Three-flavored fish
This is one of the signature dishes in fact. Look pretty decent when comes to presentation but when you have a bite of it, woah-la. The skin is crispy and the flesh is juicy. One thing for sure it is fresh! As the dish name itself is three-flavored fish, your tastebuds are put into excitement with sweet, sour and spicy taste.
Crabs
I rarely take crabs because it is quite troublesome to eat them. Nevertheless, my friends were crediting how this dish is being cooked up and hence, I tried this. It is indeed awesome and delicious till I make sure that there is nothing left behind :)
Stir-fried Potato Leaves
Glad to have it to balance up our cholesterol level. Taste wise - nothing special.

Clam soup
Clams are indeed fresh, enriching the flavor of the soup. I had 2 bowls on that day, providing warmth to my tummy while enjoying the freshness of the seafood.

The total bill came up to RM 202.00 (including GST) for the seafood that we ordered, 4 plates of rice, 2 cans of 100 plus and 3 glasses of sugar cane. After dinner, we went back to our hotel. Guys were left swimming at the private indoor pool while the girls did the wine preparation and had girls talk. Time flew pretty quickly and by that time, it was nearly 11pm.

Fruit liquor from Japan! And I loved it so much...
.....The night went on with board game, RISK! Imagine that, we played till 3am and the game did not seem to come to an ending. So, we ended up putting a stop and headed back to sleep.
This was the result on that night. Mine was the yellow color :)
Woke up, pretty early in the next day and I got myself a selfie at the swimming pool area:)
Breakfast. Checked out. And we headed to Nilai. Had lunch at Aunty Aini's and we got ourselves a plate of spaghetti carbonara, tempoyak and rendang ayam. Delicious.
It was pretty early actually since my friends would be leaving to Singapore at 7.45pm thus, we headed to McD to play RISK!We spent hours there until we realize it was 5.30pm. We put a stop to that and headed to a nearby restaurant to have our dinner together.
The intense moment of playing RISK at McD.

So, did I spend my weekend wisely? Well, I did especially when it is so hard to have a gathering with our friends who come from different places. We wish that we could have a longer break rather than 2 days only nevertheless, the moments are truly precious.

Once a while, I suggest you to drive down to Port Dickson, just to keep your mind away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a not a long drive after all and you will feel rejuvenated at the end of the day.

Try planning for this weekend :)
