Ipoh oh Ipoh! One of my favorite places to satisfy my beloved tummy.
Recently, I headed to Ipoh again with my bestie despite that it was a tomb-cleaning period where there was an expected slow traffic. Nonetheless, that did not stop me from visiting Ipoh as I was going to see my beloved sister even though it was barely half an hour :)
In this trip, I went to a few places to opt for their food once again.
1. Soya Milk and Tau Fu Fah at Kacang Soya Lai Kee
This shop in particular would always close whenever I made my trip down to Ipoh. However, lady luck was with me on last weekend and woah-la, it was opened. No doubt to say that Funny Mountain is still the place where tourists go but my local Ipoh friends suggested me to try out the soya milk as well as tau fu fah at Kacang Soya Lai Kee.
Believe it or not, you will not regret having their tau fu fah - smooth and silky in texture and great in taste. The serving portion is also bigger compared to Funny Mountain and when comes to pricing, less assured as Lai Kee sells its tau fu fah starting from RM 1.40 depending on which type of sugar you opt for.
Never I thought that Ipoh is well known with Yim Kok Kai; instead of buying them in mass, we decided to try one at the restaurant itself. And guess what - it's superlicious - priced at RM 19 for each bird, this could be good for either lunch or dinner by just complementing it with a bowl of rice. Otherwise, you can just have it as it is when you watch television - this is what I did when I "tapao" some back.
In the morning itself, we had a full breakfast at Sin Yoon Loong. Started off with a cup of white coffee all the way to a plate of chee cheong fun, toast with peanut, toast with half-boiled eggs, some pastries like egg tarts and yam puff and a bowl of curry pork noodle. By the time we finished, we were rather full. Yet, we did not want to miss the famous caramel custard at Thean Chun shop, so off we went.
Deserved to be well-known among the locals as well as tourists alike, the caramel custard is a perfect dessert to have especially under the scorching sun. Best to have it shared rather than having it on your own though cause you may feel "jelak" after that.
If your tummy is still not satisfied, you can order the pork satay at Thean Chun shop - I wouldn't say that they are very, very nice but it's a different twist as compared to other satay. So, no harm trying :)
6. Pork Noodle at CY Noodle
Heavily favored in taste, a bowl of pork soup plus noodle is simply appetizing albeit the hot weather. For pork lovers, this is something that you may want to opt when you are in Ipoh but for those who don't really fancy pork, I guess it is best to stay away from this as the broth itself is superb with "pork taste".
More to come......
Happy Monday!
Cheers.
