Chapter 79 – Dinner at Chay Kee Restaurant, Klang

For the consecutive three weekends, my family and I had been to this special restaurant that has won our heart. Without fail, this restaurant keeps our taste buds at a very satisfied level each time we were there. Quality, taste and even pricing are both amazing and reasonable.

Located near to Taman Sentosa, Klang, this Chinese restaurant is a place where you must go and try! Each dish comes with its distinctive taste and aroma which makes you crave for more.

As I said, I have been to this place for the past 3 weekends, on Saturdays and Sundays. And within these 3 weeks, I have shortlisted the top 10 dishes that you must try when you are at the restaurant. Price wise, do not need to worry much because the price is reasonable.

1. Mee Mamak
This is the top 1st dish that you must try! Unlike mee mamak that is served elsewhere, this dish has a very unique taste and smell. Though the presentation doesn’t look appealing, this dish will certainly wow your heart once you try it.

2.  “Shang Mee”
I would say that this is the top 2nd dish in this restaurant. Carrying its own style of whipping up this dish, the hot piping gravy is going to melt your mouth…probably heart too.

3. Fried Mee Hun with Mantis Prawn
I voted this as the top 3rd dish – in fact, it is quite difficult to source for a restaurant that serves this dish. So, do give a try whenever you can.

4. Curry Fish
Serving in hot small wok, the smell starts to linger starting from the kitchen all the way to our table. How can we not salivate upon smelling it and seeing it serve on our table while holding our temptation??

5. Fried Udon Noodle
Isn’t it something special for a Chinese restaurant to serve a fried udon noodle? At that time, we dared not order a big plate of it as we were worried that the dish would not turn out good. However, we were wrong after we put a spoon of it into our mouth. Very “cina” style of fried udon noodle compared to where we can usually get it from the Japanese restaurant but worth trying.
6. Fried Pumpkin Chicken
Woooo…this is very nice!! Try it!
7. Stir-fry vegetables with belacan
I guess this is the first time that I voted a plate of greenies as the top 10 must-try dishes in a restaurant. The belacan smell and taste is not that strong and it allows the freshness of the greenies to outshine.

8. Fried Singapore MeeHun
Wouldn’t want to say much anymore as this keeps alluring me. Two word – “TRY IT”.
9. Fried Hokkien Mee
Compared to the Hokkien Mee that I had in Restoran Hokkien Mee Damansara Uptown, I prefer the ones that is cooked in Damansara Uptown. Probably, the abundance of pork lard in a plate of noodle makes a true difference. Nonetheless, this plate of fried hokkien mee is nice too. At least, it is not that oily which suits people of all ages.
10. Fried Rice
To describe this, I use the term of KISS that stands for Keep It Simple Stupid! Guess that the chefs use this technique because the fried rice tastes so good with enough wok-hei and simple ingredients.
I truly enjoyed my dining experience thus far when I was in Restaurant Chay Kee, Klang. Hence, I would urge you to stop pondering where to eat the next time when you are in Klang! If you don’t fancy seafood but opt for a homey-style dish, this is the right place for you!
