Chapter 119 - Fenix Restaurant, KL Gateway Mall

When one thought about having a good and delicious steamed river fish, the first thing that may or may not come to the mind is to visit Loong Kee in Gohtong Jaya. I came across this place when I visited Genting...That was like years ago yet the delicious and simple dishes always kept me wanting to have more and more. However, the thought to drive up there always kill the intention of me having such a delicious meal.

With Loong Kee's expansion plan to Kuala Lumpur, it finally puts its footprint in KL Gateway Mall. In this very first branch, it is known as Fenix Restaurant. In my opinion, it is best to dine in together with a group of 5 to 6 so that you can enjoy a fanfare of dishes from fresh fish all the way to chicken, soup as well as some fresh vegetables from Bentong.

Recently, I was given the opportunity to sample signature dishes in Fenix Restaurant. There were 8 dishes in total and truthfully, I enjoyed it so much and I believe my tummy was in the best mood at that time.

Steamed Soon Hock with Homemade Soy Sauce

This is the best seller as well as the ultimate signature food offered in Fenix Restaurant. Using the most simple ingredients as well as a fresh river Soon Hock, the eating experience has changed totally. Imagine that the meat melts in your mouth when you put it in, wanting and craving for more and more bites.

Steamed River Prawn

This is another awesome dish that we had. The river prawn was so, so fresh and those who are allergic of prawns do not mind to have one to try. Once they have it, they crave for more. Can you imagine that? At the end of the day, you just don't regret having it.

Kapa Clam in Superior Soup

This is one of my favorite dishes among all. The clams are cooked together in the superior soup, making the soup as one of the best sought-after soup. If you were to choose between drink and this soup, my vote will go for this. 

Crispy Fried Belly Pork

A signature dish in Bentong! I heard that people are willing to drive all the way up to Bentong, just to snack on this Crispy Fried Belly Pork. I was quite reluctant initially but after I have it, that's where craving comes in. I always think that this dish would be a best snack to go with a cup of beer or wine. Oh well...

Claypot Rice Wine Chicken Soup

Ladies, this might be your favorite soup! 

Loong Kee Style Homemade Beancurd

Unlike ready-made beancurd, this beancurd wins the heart of many. Soft in texture and rich in taste while soaking in the thick gravy, this dish is just perfect to be eaten with a bowl of rice. Simple as it is, this dish can make people wanting for more.

Fried Brinjal with Dried Shrimp and Garlic & Stir Fried Watercress

A lunch or a dinner is not complete without a plate or two of vegetables. That being said, the greenies presented on our table were good to just make our souls to feel better after indulging so much of meat and seafood. Alas...I'm a happy kid after all.
