Chapter 75 - Hokkien Mee @ Damansara Uptown

Dream came true when I got to pamper myself with the best Hokkien Mee at Damansara Uptown for 2 days consecutively.

Hokkien Mee needs no introduction as it is one of the famous dishes among the Chinese community where it is cooked with dark soy sauce. I personally have tried this dish in a number of places but sadly to say, most of the Hokkien Mee does not carry the “wok hei” taste – in fact, Hokkien Mee must be cooked over a high flame in order to bring the authentic taste. Most importantly, pork lard has to be cooked together, giving a slight oily texture as well as fragrant smell.

Suitable to be eaten during dinner or even supper, Hokkien Mee in Damansara Uptown has never failed to appease my appetite.
Fried Hokkien Mee (1pax) - RM 9.00
Fried Hokkien Mee (2pax) - RM 17.00

Fried in thick dark soy sauce gravy, the thick yellow noodles appear to be slightly wet. Nonetheless, the chef is quite generous with the ingredients especially pork lard. If you feel that the pork lard is not enough, you can opt for extra with minimal charges.

Feeling guilty for throwing so much of fatty food into our bodies, we ordered a plate of greenies as well as a bowl of pork soup. Vegetables are crunchy and the pork soup with generous amount of pork is a good complement dish to go with this Chinese food.

Cai Dan Vegetable (2 pax) - RM 15.00
Pork Soup (1pax) - RM 9.50

The following day itself, we ordered Hokkien Mee again, a plate of fried rice, fried la-la, greenies, Cantonese Fried Ying Yong as well as Hokkien Mi Hun.

I must say thumbs up to all these dishes – I couldn’t find any reason not to like their food as the dishes certainly leave us in awe. Enough wok-hei for the fried rice though we had to wait for about 10 minutes, fried la-la is spicy yet appetizing which is good for those who love spicy food and Hokkien Mi Hun is a different variation as to Hokkien Mee. Sad that I did not manage to capture an image of Hokkien Mi Hun since everyone took their portion immediately upon food’s arrival.
Fried La-la (big) - RM 28.00
Cantonese Fried Ying Yong (2 pax) - RM 17.00
Fried Rice (2 pax) - RM 17.00
Ps: Picture was taken halfway when everyone took their share of it.

If you are looking for some Chinese food to have, this is one of the must-try places. However, do bear in mind that their menu is rather limited so, do not expect to have sweet and sour la, steam fish la, fried sotong la or etc.
