Will you wait
for a minimum of 30 minutes to get a bowl of Mee Hoon Kuih? Will you wait for
about 5 – 10 minutes to get a place to sit? Or will you wake up at an early
hour in one of your weekends, just to wait for a bowl of Mee Hoon Kuih?
Well, I did!
Call me insane or what not, I once waited for an hour to have my Mee Hoon Kuih.
The shop opens at 9am everyday but they only start serving at 10am. Once they
open the shop, you will see people start to flock in and patiently
wait for the time to pass. I once joined them and experienced the same thing
too.
In this shop,
they only sell ONE and ONLY ONE thing which is Mee Hoon Kuih (soup) – yes, you
read it right! Soup only and dry version is not available there. Every single
thing that you want to add, for instance, anchovies, vegetables, meat, egg,
pork liver, carries an additional charge to it. Even, there is an additional
charge if one wants extra fried onion!
In fact, it
is a very simple bowl of Mee Hoon Kuih yet, I must say that they cook it pretty
well including the dough preparation. When I first tasted the Mee Hoon Kuih, I
realize that the texture is rather different from other places. It is so smooth
and silky yet at the same time, chewy too. If you look at how they work, they
don’t use the flour machine to flatten the dough but use hands palm. Besides
that, they don’t cook in a big pot but cook them individually. Perhaps, that’s
the secret of their successful and delicious Mee Hoon Kuih.
Diners
patiently waiting for their Mee Hoon Kuih!
Thank God,
the price is rather reasonable too – for a small bowl, it costs RM 3.50, for a
large bowl, it costs RM 4.00 and for extra large, it costs RM 4.50.
If you have
some free time to spend, why not try out the Fatty Mee Hoon Kuih? It is located
at 19, Lebuh Bangau, Taman Berkeley, 41150 Klang.

Foodiestravel
